When the hospitality industry was sideswiped by Covid 19 we faced the prospect of twiddling our thumbs until things got better. So, sitting two meters apart and wearing obligatory itchy face coverings we had a team meeting to discuss how we could use this time proactively. Our local food bank seemed like the obvious choice for people who like to bring joy to others with food, so we made contact.

Due to the overwhelming support from public donations, storage was fast becoming an issue with limited space at their HQ Brackley Baptist church. Lemon Zest to the rescue, we agreed to accept, sort and store donations at one of our industrial premises and then deliver exactly what was required back to the church for packing. This took the pressure of the volunteers who were beginning to disappear under a mountain of tinned food and UHT milk cartons.

We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team and helping took our minds away from having no events to attend so a win, win situation. Having seen first-hand what an amazing service they offer we are delighted to still be involved with the food bank who are still sharing our premises.

Sandy and her amazing team are open for donations every Thursday between 10 -12 to at the address below.
